THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* PORTIONS OF MARYLAND…THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA…VIRGINIA AND
NORTHEAST WEST VIRGINIA…INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS…IN
MARYLAND…ANNE ARUNDEL…CALVERT…CARROLL…CHARLES…
FREDERICK MD…HARFORD…HOWARD…MONTGOMERY…NORTHERN
BALTIMORE…PRINCE GEORGES…SOUTHERN BALTIMORE…ST. MARYS
AND WASHINGTON. THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. IN VIRGINIA…
ALBEMARLE…ARLINGTON/FALLS CHURCH/ALEXANDRIA…CLARKE…
CULPEPER…FAIRFAX…FREDERICK VA…GREENE…KING GEORGE…
LOUDOUN…MADISON...NELSON…NORTHERN FAUQUIER…ORANGE…
PRINCE WILLIAM/MANASSAS/MANASSAS PARK…RAPPAHANNOCK…
SOUTHERN FAUQUIER…SPOTSYLVANIA…STAFFORD AND WARREN. IN
NORTHEAST WEST VIRGINIA…BERKELEY…JEFFERSON AND MORGAN.

* UNTIL 8 AM EDT TUESDAY

* A POTENT AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL BRING LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL
TO PORTIONS OF THE EASTERN PANHANDLE OF WEST VIRGINIA…NORTHERN
AND CENTRAL VIRGINIA…AND MUCH OF MARYLAND WEST OF THE
CHESAPEAKE BAY. RAINFALL AMOUNTS BETWEEN 2 AND 4 INCHES ARE
EXPECTED ACROSS MOST LOCATIONS WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS UP TO 5
INCHES IN BANDS OF HEAVIER RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS.

* DEEP GULF MOISTURE WILL CONTINUE TO STREAM NORTHWARD INTO THE
MID ATLANTIC REGION OVERNIGHT AND EARLY TUESDAY. WIDESPREAD
PRECIPITATION WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP ALONG AND EAST OF A
STATIONARY FRONTAL BOUNDARY SITUATED NORTH TO SOUTH ACROSS
CENTRAL VIRGINIA AND MARYLAND. A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH
THE MID ATLANTIC REGION ON TUESDAY…WITH PRECIPITATION ENDING
FROM WEST TO EAST EARLY IN THE DAY. ALTHOUGH RECENT CONDITIONS
HAVE BEEN VERY DRY…HIGH RAINFALL AMOUNTS IN A SHORT PERIOD OF
TIME MAY CAUSE SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS TO QUICKLY RISE OUT OF
THEIR BANKS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION
SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.

    About 3″ thus far since early Sunday on our deck at the top of Wintergreen Mountain (near Devils Knob golf). Typical fall thus far — a little bit of everything.
