Wintergreen Resort
Nelson County, Virginia

The final weekend of September was crammed full of events all over Nelson! The closer we get to October, the more events you will see unfold as the leaves begin their change to beautiful colors here in the Blue Ridge. A favorite up on the mountain at Wintergreen Resort is the Oktoberfest put on by Wintergreen Performing Arts. Our Mountain Photographer, Paul Purpura, stopped by and grabbed a few shots. We’re not sure if he grabbed a stein of beer too, but hope he got the chance!

In addition to traditional oom-pah band music, people got to try out local microbrewery beers.

Didn’t make it to the Oktobefest on the mountain? There’s plenty more happening all week long down in the valley. Both Blue Mountain Brewery and Devils Backbone Brewing will be hold Oktoberfest events for the entire week. You can see the specific events under out datebook section on the home page of www.nelsoncountylife.com. Scroll down to Datebook Events.

Travel over to the east side of the county this past Sunday and it was antique cars and music as The Oakland/Nelson Museum of Rural History had a fundraiser that included antique cars from The Lynchburg Chapter of the Antique Car Association.

Classic cars and cars from not so long ago were on display at Oakland this past Sunday - September 26, 2010.
