Nelson County Public Schools as well as just about every other school within miles are closed today. UVa closed it’s campus for the first time since 2003 due to the approaching storm.

Central Virginia Electric Coop has it’s crews on standby as this storm has the potential to cause widespread power outages since it will be a wet, heavy, blanketing snow. TIger Fuel is also warning people that heat with propane to make sure their vent pipes do not get clogged from deep snow next to the exterior walls of houses.

The snow will begin just before or around daylight and get heavier thoroughout the day and into the nighttime hours Friday. The heavy snow will continue until Saturday evening with a total potential of 20-28 inches. The mountains may well see more than that.
