Nelson County, Virginia
With abundant moisture in place and several disturbances affecting the area today, the potential for severe thunderstorms, even an isolated tornado or two exist this afternoon and evening for this last day of July. The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK has much of Virginia in the slight risk area for severe weather later Friday. The potential is also mentioned in the local weather service hazardous weather outlook, here.

.”DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT

NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE ACROSS THE AREA
TODAY…MAINLY LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. SOME OF THE STORMS
MAY BE SEVERE…PRODUCING DAMAGING WIND GUSTS…LARGE HAIL AND
ISOLATED TORNADOES. THE GREATEST RISK WILL BE MAINLY EAST OF THE
BLUE RIDGE.”

This is not a guarantee that severe weather will develop, but the potential is greater today than an average day.

We’ll update you with more info if conditions develop!
