Before we head off into the weather for the weekend want to remind folks of two things coming up:

First, yours truly, is emceeing Wintergreen Performing Arts’ 3rd Annual Blue Ridge Mountain Music Fest this coming Saturday August 16th from 11 AM until 7 PM. That’s at Wintergreen Resort in The Evans Center. You can go on over to the WPA website by clicking here to find out more about times and performances, See you there!

Second, The Oakland Museum, just south of Lovingston on Route 29, will hold their grand opening this Sunday August 17th from 3 to 5 PM. Those folks have been working very, very hard over the past 2-3 years to get the place in shape. It’s got lots of neat displays and tons of history. Be sure to stop by there and check it out, they have done a spectacular job!

As shown in the weather shot above, the tents have been going up on the lawn in preparation for the crowds at the museum. The clouds in the background are pretty much what it’s been looking like for the past several days in Nelson. Fair puffy cumulus clouds for much of the day , with isolated thunderstorms in the late day.

Thursday portions of Nelson saw some showers and thunderstorms about the area, but again, the rain was isolated in nature.

Friday we have a chance for isolated thunderstorms again into the evening, then the weekend looks fairly dry with only a tiny chance of a shower late in the afternoon.

Temps remain generally in the mid and upper 80’s through the period in the valley.
