…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EST
SATURDAY…

* WHAT…Freezing rain and freezing drizzle expected. Ice
accumulations of up to two tenths of an inch expected. Highest
amounts will be at the higher elevations.

* WHERE…Portions of northern and western Maryland, central,
northwestern and western Virginia and eastern West Virginia.
Glaze ice will primarily impact higher elevations during the
daylight hours today, but may spread to lower elevations
tonight.

* WHEN…Until 1 AM EST Saturday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Plan on slippery road conditions. The
hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery
roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

When venturing outside, watch your first few steps taken on
steps, sidewalks, and driveways, which could be icy and slippery,
increasing your risk of a fall and injury.

.REST OF TODAY…Freezing drizzle late this morning, then
freezing rain and rain this afternoon. Additional ice
accumulation of up to one quarter of an inch. Highs in the lower
30s. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation near
100 percent.
.TONIGHT…Freezing rain and rain in the evening, then a slight
chance of rain and freezing rain after midnight. Ice accumulation
of up to a tenth of an inch. Lows in the lower 30s. Northeast
winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of
precipitation near 100 percent.

.SATURDAY…Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 40s. West winds 5 to
10 mph.
.SATURDAY NIGHT…Mostly cloudy. Lows in the lower 30s. Northwest

.Weak low pressure passing to the south of the region will bring
another round of precipitation this afternoon and evening. With
temperatures expected to hover around freezing, additional light
icing may occur especially on elevated surfaces through late this
evening.

amounts across the ridges.

* WHERE…Rockbridge, Amherst and Bath Counties.

* WHEN…Until midnight EST tonight. Best potential for glazing
later this afternoon and evening.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…The hazardous conditions could impact the
evening commute. Bridges and overpasses could become icy.

freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties, mainly in the
higher ridges. Use caution while driving.
