Nelson : Crews Battle Large Wildfire On Embly’s Gap Road

Updated 7:00 PM : As of early evening the fire was contained and many crews returning to the station.

Fire crews from every department including forestry were on the scene of a large brush / wildfire late Wednesday afternoon on Embly’s Gap Road in South Nelson near the Piney River area. The call was originally dispatched around 3:45 Wednesday afternoon.

Numerous response vehicles including a dozer unti from the Virginia Department of Forestry are staged at the fire in South Nelson – Wednesday : April 4, 2018.

To make matters worse, winds have been gusting to over 30 MPH as recorded at our BRL-Maple Brook Farm station here in Roseland.
