15 years ago this month Basic Necessities was born. Back then it was little more than a shack. Today it still has its own special feel, but with thousands and thousands of customers over the years always making the stop whenever they are in Nelson. Sunday afternoon with the clap of thunder off in the distance The Basic Crew celebrated 15 years in business with a quaint courtyard party behind the restaurant next door to Wintergreen Hardware.

Dozens of friends filled the backyard of Basic Necessities this past Sunday July 15, 2012 to celebrate the 15th anniversary.

Sarah, who is the manager of the restaurant, has been working at Basic since she was a teen over a dozen years ago.
