Updated 9:00 PM
As of 9PM most of known outages in Nelson are back on. Final checks are being made by CVEC, but our Nelson Mag Facebook friends from all over the area are reporting lights back on as of 9PM, including Wintergreen Mountain.

From CVEC @ 7:47 PM

Monday, March 1, 7:47 PM: CVEC is experiencing power outages from areas fed through the Midway substation just south of Crozet. These areas include a significant portion of northern Nelson County, including the Rockfish Valley, Wintergreen, Woods Mill and Shipman.

While this is a single point outage, due to a broken crossarm along the 115 KV transmission line in Greenfield, the impact is significant. CVEC estimates that more than 6,000 members are affected by this outage.

Repair efforts are underway. Details about the cause of the broken crossarm are not available but most likely due to a fallen tree.

Look for updates in 30 miniutes. Restoration time is projected by 10 PM

A major power outage seems to be underway this evening in Nelson County, Virginia. A little more than 6000 people appear to be without power around 7PM tonight.
