Homestead-Olivia
Olivia Harris of a.m. Fog Shows Off One of The Homestead Creamery Varieties
Afton, Virginia

Most of you know by now that Yvette and I are expecting a child in the fall of this year. Yea, she’s been drinking the milk lots to keep up the calcium! She’s always liked Homestead Creamery milk. You know, it comes in those classic glass bottles, not far off of the kind the milkman used to deliver in simpler times. Most of the stores around here carried it, then one day she walked in and no more! Gone.

Folks this is one popular brand of milk and it’s the best around. No artificial hormones, and about as close to the cow as it comes! Yea, move over happy steer, we’ve got the happy cow now! As soon as Ken and Yvonne Harris up at a.m. Fog heard about this they jumped all over it! And, yep! They have the whole line of Homestead Creamery milk products in the familiar glass bottles, right there in their market on the Nelson-Albemarle County line on Route 151.

HC-Bottle-1
Nothing’s quite as good as a cold glass of milk from one of those chilled bottles!

And now you can get Homestead Creamery milk just up the road at a.m. Fog. along with all of your vegetables, plants and nursery needs to boot!

You can always visit them on the web at www.amfog.net or call ’em at 540-456-7100

Lots to get to today so let’s head off into it! First at the top of today’s weather you see the information about a really exciting event coming up in just a few days. The Reading Rocks Music Festival being held over at Cardinal Point Vineyard and Winery on August 2nd benefiting Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle celebrating their 25th year of offering free tutoring to adults who are learning to read and write. Nelson County Life is one of the sponsors for this this year’s event. You can go on over to www.readingrocks.org to get all of the details or click on the image up above for a larger version of the electronic flier. We’ll see you there August 2nd!

Also want to remind everyone about the return of a really exciting event to Nelson County and the Rockfish Valley. The UK International Soccer Camp begins today through Friday July 25th. This a a very neat camp and really fun to see the kids learning soccer techniques from some of the best in the world! Be sure to go by and check it out!

What is now Tropical Storm Cristobal is still churning away off the eastern seaboard. It’s been hanging out there for the entire weekend but starts a NE movement away from the Carolinas today and more over open water. It is possible it will affect a tiny portion of the far NE U.S. but just barely as it skirts by. You can check out all of the latest maps, models, and satellite views down below.

Back at home it will be another very hot and humid day today with only isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorm across this area. By tomorrow a cold front that slides through will stall across Central Virginia keeping chances for mainly afternoon and evening thunderstorms in the forecast for much of the week from Tuesday on. None of these storms will be widespread, but some could be locally heavy with brief downpours in some locations.

Temperatures moderate a little after Tuesday as we’ll have more partly cloudy skies on the average.
