Spruce Creek Bridge dedication

Rockfish Valley foundation is undertaking many imiprovements along the Rockfish River trails and at Spruce Creek Park. the first to be completed is Spruce Creek bridge connecting the trail leading to the Rockfish Valley Foundation natural History Center to parking for the trails in Spruce Creek Park. It is handicapped accessible and constructed of local locust planking and rails. The bridge is named for Gordon Miller whose firm has constructed it and assisted with the cost. The project is made possible by grants from the VA Dept of Conservation and Recreation recreational trails grant program and BAMA Works Fund, a fund of the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation created by the Dave Matthews Band. The ribbon cutting will occur at noon on Saturday October 12. The Natural History Museum will be open for tours. It is free and open to the public. Also meet our winter intern, Evan Spears, a graduate of Longwood University with a major in biology and a knowledgeable birder and naturalist.
