Including the cities of Staunton, Waynesboro, Stuarts Draft,
Harrisonburg, Strasburg, Woodstock, Mount Jackson, New Market,
Luray, Shenandoah, Stanley, Front Royal, Lovingston,
Charlottesville, Stanardsville, Madison, Washington, Warrenton,
Monterey, Big Meadows, Wintergreen, Brandywine, Franklin,
Oak Flat, Ruddle, and Sugar Grove

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Virginia and eastern West
Virginia, including the following areas, in Virginia,
Albemarle, Augusta, Central Virginia Blue Ridge, Eastern
Highland, Greene, Madison, Nelson, Northern Fauquier, Northern
Virginia Blue Ridge, Page, Rappahannock, Rockingham,
Shenandoah, and Warren. In eastern West Virginia, Eastern

* Until 8 PM EDT this evening

* Multiple rounds of heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected
this afternoon through early this evening. Rainfall amounts
around 1 to 3 inches are expected with localized amounts up to 4
inches possible in heavier thunderstorms.

* Heavy amounts of rain in a short period of time may cause creeks
and streams to quickly rise out of their banks along with
potential flash flooding in urban areas.


A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
