Central Virginia Blue Ridge

As expected a potent winter storm hit the area overnight Sunday into Monday dropping anywhere from 2-4 inches of snow in some areas with others receiving 5-6 inches. At Wintergreen resort around 7 inches of new snow fell during the day Monday.

As expected the Virginia State Police were covered up with traffic accidents across the area.

The snow is pretty much over, but a period of freezing rain is expected in the evening hours Monday, eventually changing to plain rain later in the night and on Tuesday. Heavy rain and some flooding is expected due to all of the snowpack already in place.
