Saturday morning February 8, 2014 – Virginia State Police say the medical examiner in Richmond has positively identified the body found in Goochland on Thursday as that of Waynesboro Police Reservist Kevin Quick.

BRL first reported Thursday that the body found in Goochland was that of missing Waynesboro Police Reservist Kevin Quick of Nelson County. Nelson County Sheriff David Brooks confirmed the information after numerous media outlets in Richmond were quoting sources, but no direct law enforcement official. BRL responsibly confirmed the information with attributed law enforcement sources before releasing it.

Saturday morning – February 8th, 2014 VSP confirmed the medical examiner’s findings. The body has been positively identified as Kevin Quick. Their release below, verbatim.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed Friday evening (Feb. 7, 2014) that the remains discovered Thursday (Feb. 6, 2014) in Goochland County are those of Kevin Wayne Quick, 45, of Rockfish, Va. Family was notified later Friday night. We are not releasing the cause of death at this time.

The Virginia State Police extends its sincere condolences to the Waynesboro Police Department, Quick family, and Waynesboro community at-large. The Waynesboro Police Department’s assistance in the ongoing investigation into Kevin’s disappearance and death has been invaluable. The department’s leadership, officers and investigators have demonstrated tremendous professionalism and a commitment to justice during the most difficult of circumstances.
