* PRECIPITATION TYPE…FREEZING DRIZZLE…THEN FREEZING RAIN.

* ACCUMULATIONS…AROUND ONE QUARTER INCH OF ICE…WITH UP TO A
HALF INCH OF ICE OVER PORTIONS OF THE NORTHERN SHENANDOAH VALLEY
AND INTO THE EXTREME EASTERN PANHANDLE OF WEST VIRGINIA…
PARTICULARLY ELEVATIONS BELOW 1500 FEET.

* TIMING… FREEZING DRIZZLE THROUGH THE MID EVENING…THEN A
SUBSTANTIAL ROUND OF FREEZING RAIN FROM LATE EVENING THROUGH THE
NIGHT AND INTO MONDAY MORNING.

* TEMPERATURES…LOWER TO MID 20S…RISING ABOVE FREEZING THROUGH
MID MORNING MONDAY.

* WINDS…NORTH 5 TO 10 MPH.

* IMPACTS…HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED DUE TO
SLICK ROADS AND ICY CONDITIONS ESPECIALLY ALONG INTERSTATE 81
AND IN SHELTERED VALLEY LOCATIONS. DOWNED TREE BRANCHES AND
LIMBS ALONG WITH POWER OUTAGES ARE LIKELY.

BE READY FOR POWER OUTAGES. KNOW WHERE WORKING FLASHLIGHTS ARE
FOR YOUR USE. HAVE YOUR ELECTRONICS CHARGING TO ALLOW FOR A FULL

…WINTER STORM CONTINUES INTO MONDAY…

LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE NORTHEAST TONIGHT AND OFF THE MID ATLANTIC
COAST BY MONDAY MORNING. THE LOW WILL TRANSPORT DEEP MOISTURE
OVER COLD AIR HELD OVER THE APPALACHIANS BY STRONG HIGH PRESSURE.
THIS WILL RESULT IN WIDESPREAD FREEZING RAIN. AS WARMER AIR ENTERS
THE REGION OVERNIGHT…THE REGION OF FREEZING RAIN AND DRIZZLE
WILL SHRINK IN SIZE FROM THE SOUTHWEST TO THE NORTHEAST.

VIRGINIA NORTH OF HIGHWAY 460…INCLUDING THE GREENBRIER…NEW
AND ROANOKE RIVER VALLEYS…THE ALLEGHANY HIGHLANDS…
SHENANDOAH VALLEY AND THE VIRGINIA PIEDMONT.

* HAZARD TYPES…FREEZING RAIN.

* ACCUMULATIONS…TWO TO FOUR TENTHS OF ADDITIONAL ICE.

* TIMING…UNTIL 9 AM MONDAY. THE PRECIPITATION WILL CHANGE OVER
TO RAIN BETWEEN 4AM AND 9AM.

* IMPACTS…ICE WILL ACCUMULATE ON TREES AND POWERLINES CAUSING
POWER OUTAGES. ROADS AND SIDEWALKS WILL BECOME SLIPPERY AND
HAZARDOUS…ESPECIALLY BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES.

* TEMPERATURES…STARTING IN THE THE MID 20S TO THE LOWER 30S…
RISING SLOWLY INTO THE LOWER TO MID 30S.
