Nelson County, VA

For the first time in the community’s history, Wintergreen Resort is extending a special offer to non-property owners to purchase memberships at the four-season resort that has long been renowned for its array of recreational activities for the entire family.

Historically, memberships at Wintergreen Resort have been available only to property owners, but effective March 20 that will change, according to General Manager Hank Thiess.

“As part of our ongoing initiative to support and strengthen the Wintergreen Resort community, we are excited to make this first-of-a-kind membership opportunity available,” Thiess said. “Even though the offer is limited to only 100 memberships, and for just a defined time period, we trust our neighbors will be eager to learn more about the many privileges of membership here.”

The All Resort membership will provide non-property owners with unique ski benefits to include private lift lines and special ski hours along with exclusivity to the Devils Knob 18-hole golf course, Devils Grill Restaurant, Aquatics & Fitness Center, and tennis facility that are located on top of the mountain. Additional benefits include access to the Valley amenities, including Stoney Creek’s 27 holes of golf, Lake Monocan, tennis and outdoor swimming.

Depending on the type of membership selected, prices range from $5,000 to $10,000 for a one-time initiation fee, with annual dues from $1,750 to $2,250.

The decision to offer memberships to non-residents, Thiess explained, is part of the James C. Justice Companies’ ongoing commitment to enhance the Wintergreen Resort facilities. Last August, the resort announced that nearly $12 million was being invested by the Justice Companies – which also owns the acclaimed Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia – to carry out both facility and infrastructure improvements.

Wintergreen Resort, located 45 minutes southwest of Charlottesville, Va., is situated on 11,000 acres adjacent to the George Washington National Forest, and boasts beautiful views on the eastern slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The resort offers skiing, snowboarding and tubing; 45 holes of championship golf; a tennis center with three indoor courts and 19 outdoor clay courts; a full-service spa featuring 13 treatment rooms; a fitness and aquatics center; and multiple dining options. Additional amenities include a lake, swimming pools, and a youth entertainment center.
