Nelson: Renovations Continue At RVCC

For several months we’ve been telling you about the impressive list of renovations taking place at the Rockfish Valley Community Center in Afton. Recently the finishing touches were put on another of the old classrooms. “Room 11 at RVCC, formerly known as Class room 11 at RVES, has been renovated. Volunteers have repaired plaster, doors, swing hinges, and woodwork. A fresh coat of paint and a new tile floor makes all the difference in the world. RVCC will now make this room available for rent,” said Henry Weems. Henry, his wife Elaine, and countless others have been volunteering their time to get the rooms in shape.

P1050158 — The original bulletin board was preserved. On the last week of school the teacher and students wrote comments. This classroom was Mrs. Cherie Patrick’s Third Grade Class 1998-1999. She writes:" I’ve enjoyed teaching 8 years at RVES. I’ll miss being here. I have lots of wonderful memories- including this class. Mrs. Patrick "
