Nelson Deputy Sheriff Nabs Wanted Bank Fugitive During Traffic Stop

Via NCSD: A Nelson County Deputy Sheriff aprehended the two people seen in the wanted poster above this past Friday. They were wanted in connection with multiple felony charges across the NE U.S.

Traffic stop reveals fugitive

On March 30, 2012, Deputy Rick Smutz was patrolling the Tye River school zone and observed a silver Volvo speeding. A traffic stop was made. The driver told Deputy Smutz they were going to Lynchburg and then gave several false identities. After further investigation, it was discovered the driver was wanted in Connecticut for 1 hotel robbery and 7 bank robberies.

Driver: 46 year old – Kevin W. Bolden – New Haven, CT has the following outstanding charges in Connecticut:

Stolen vehicle – 1998 Volvo station wagon – silver in color
Outstanding warrants in Stamford, CT for armed robbery (bank)
Outstanding warrants in Woodbridge, CT for armed robbery (bank)
Outstanding warrants in Greenwich, CT for armed robbery (bank)
Suspected in hotel robbery in Connecticut

Nelson County charges:

Speeding
Driving suspended
Possession of stolen property
Possession of cocaine
Possession of marijuana
Falsifying information to law enforcement

Bolden is being held at Charlottesville-Albemarle Joint Security Complex with no bond.
