Full Speed Ahead – Snow Is Flying At Wintergreen Resort

Snowmaking - 0004 — ©2011 www.nelsoncountylife.com : Photos By NCL Mountain Photographer Paul Purpura : After a little snow from mother nature Wednesday night and much colder temperatures, Wintergreen Resort is in full snowmaking mode in anticipation of opening for ski season next weekend!

Temps dropped into the upper teens overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning at Wintergreen Resort. After roughly an inch of natural snow fell overnight, conditions are now perfect for the resort to make snow full time to get ready for next weekend’s kickoff of the 2011-2012 season.

Snowmaking - 0006 — Paul captured this shot of a rainbow forming in the manmade snow blowing over the Blue Ridge Express at Wintergreen Resort this past Thursday morning December 8th 2011.

Right now the Wintergreen Resort Blog says they still plan to be skiing and riding by December 16th. If the temps hold (and Tommy’s Weather says it looks like they will for the near future) they should be able to make tons of snow before opening day.
