Kids haven’t even been trick or treating yet, but that didn’t stop winter from making an early appearance in Nelson County, Virginia overnight Friday into Saturday. Around 3 inches of snow had fallen by daylight up in the mountains at places like Wintergreen, Montebello, Love and other areas along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

WTG-Snow-PP — Paul captured this shot out the window of the Copper Mine Restaurant Saturday morning at Wintergreen Resort. He estimates around 2-3 inches of total snowfall fell.

First Snow of Season - 0020 — The mums may think it's still October, but Mother Nature says otherwise!

By and large there have been no major road problems in Nelson County, but to our west along I-81 & 64 more significant travel problems have been encountered.

The previously issued Winter Storm Warning for Nelson has been canceled. But a Freeze Warning is in effect for the Saturday night into early Sunday morning.
