Via NWS: The Flash Flood Watch from Tuesday has now been extended through Wednesday evening for all of the areas highlighted in green above. Look to your right under NELSON WEATHER ALERTS for the latest text updates. Severe weather is possible in the afternoon hours as well.

THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR

* PORTIONS OF WESTERN MARYLAND…NORTHERN AND CENTRAL
VIRGINIA…EASTERN WEST VIRGINIA…AND THE POTOMAC
HIGHLANDS.

* THROUGH THIS EVENING. THE MOST WIDESPREAD ACTIVITY IS EXPECTED
THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

* SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF RAINFALL RATES AROUND ONE
TO TWO INCHES PER HOUR ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THIS EVENING. WITH
SOIL ALREADY NEAR SATURATION…ADDITIONAL RAIN COULD LEAD TO
FLASH FLOODING.
