Potential For Severe Weather Increases Saturday Afternoon

[ 0 ] April 16, 2011 |

The Storm Prediction Center in OK has virtually all of Virginia in the slight or moderate risk area for severe weather Saturday afternoon with parts of SE VA in the high risk area.

Nelson County, Virginia
Dynamics continue to develop for the potential of a severe weather outbreak Saturday afternoon across Central Virginia, including Wintergreen and Nelson County. Though we won’t have the customary daytime heating due to cloud cover, vigorous winds will aid in the development of possible severe thunderstorms and isolated tornadoes during the afternoon and evening. This is not a sure bet by any means, but the potential is there and appears to be increasing as of late Saturday morning when this post was written.

For weather junkies you can read the discussion by clicking here.

It is highly likely that additional watches and warnings will be issued this afternoon, so keep checking here under Nelson Weather Alerts to your right (refresh your browser often) and also on our Twitter Feed and our Facebook Page.

I’ll be updating often and with live audio updates if severe weather conditions develop.
