AGRITOURISM WORKSHOP SET FOR INTERESTED ENTREPRENEURS
Throughout Virginia, farms are inviting visitors to tour a vineyard, enjoy hayrides, visit a barnyard, eat ice cream made from the local dairy’s milk, and discover that goats are not dogs with horns. If you have or are considering agritourism as part of your business plan for your farm, you will want to attend the Agritourism: It’s More than a Farm Tour workshop.
Presented by the Virginia Cooperative Extension, Virginia Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, and Virginia Tourism Corporation in partnership with Nelson County-Virginia Cooperative Extension office, Nelson County Economic Development Authority, Central Virginia Small Business Development Center, and Thomas Jefferson Partnership for Economic Development, Agritourism: It’s More Than a Farm Tour is scheduled for Wednesday, January 12, at The Nelson Center, 8445 Thomas Nelson Highway, Lovingston, Virginia 22949 beginning at 10 a.m. and concluding around 4 p.m.
During the workshop, participants will gather information on agritourism possibilities, liability issues, marketing strategies, electronic media as a marketing tool, and customer service strategies. Whether you’re interested in equine festivals, a corn maze, pick-your-own berries, a pumpkin patch, or an enterprise of your own design, this agritourism workshop will help you develop a viable plan.
The workshop is free, but you must register by Friday, January 7, 2011.
