Nelson County, Virginia
It waited until just about dark, but some light snow began falling across Nelson County and much of Central Virginia Tuesday evening. Predictions of snow starting earlier didn’t happen as two different areas of precipitation either fell apart before arriving or missed Nelson altogether. Light freezing drizzle also added to hazardous driving causing isolated accidents in Nelson but numerous accidents along I-64 in Albemarle.

Nelson County Public Schools (VA) will operate on a two hour delayed schedule on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 due to the potential for icy roads during the early morning hours.

Look for light snow and freezing drizzle to continue early Tuesday night before tapering off around midnight. Accumulation of 1 inch or less are expected. A Winter Weather Advisory previously issued for the area by NWS in Sterling was dropped, but make no mistake roads in the area are hazardous in many locations. Use caution driving.
