We first told you about Michael Zuckerman’s plans to head for the sunset back in our August 2010 printed edition of Nelson County Life Magazine. Photographer, Hayley Osborne, took a stroll down memory lane with Michael back in the waning days of summer as he was preparing to retire from nearly 3 decades of service with Wintergreen Adaptive Sports.

A few days before Christmas 2010, friends and colleagues got together with Michael to bid him farewell after nearly 30 years on the slopes as director, helping disabled people ski. Eventually the program turned into an all encompassing one including all kinds of sports, not just skiing.

Molly Brown (right) express her gratitude to Michael for his inspiration during his time as WAS director. Molly has become a champion skier in the WAS program and was the cover for our Jan 2008 edition.

Michael says he’ll be spending lots of time snorkeling in the Caribbean and doing gardening at his house in Afton!

Congrats Michael and enjoy your retirement!

  1. We have followed WAS from the beginning and are proud to be a cheerleader/supporter of an organization which shows what a person with vision, commitment, and energy can create. Well done, Michael!
