Updated 10:00 PM EDT Nelson EMS Coordinator, Ray Uttaro, reports that Route 29 S in Colleen at scene of semi accident will be totally reopened within 10-15 mins and traffic will be normally flowing. Crews putting finishing touches on cleanup then all headed home.

Updated 7:58 PM EDT : EMS Coordinator, Ray Uttaro, tells us the southbound side could reopen within 30-45 minutes. Two tractor trailers crashed and at least one passenger car. Multiple injuries, but all believed to be minor. Semis being cleared now, then roadway must be cleaned up before southbound side reopens.

A semi tractor trailer has jackknifed just north of Colleen in South Nelson County prompting the closure of U.S. 29’s southbound lane this evening, just after 7PM. “We have a semi jackknifed with a diesel fuel leak. We have a hazardous materials team from Stoney Creek/Wintergreen enroute to the scene now,” says Ray Uttaro, EMS Coordinator for Nelson County.

Traffic southbound is being diverted over toward Oak Ridge then back on to 29 south of the accident. Authorities are working the scene now.
