You may remember our May 2010 cover story on Henry Davis and his 1929 Model A Huckster, written by Jennie Tal Williams and photographed by Norm Shafer Henry essentially built it from scratch! That story has been one of the most popular this year! In addition to 10,000+ reads in our printed edition, Henry’s story got over 28000 reads in our electronic edition! Wow!
This coming weekend Henry and his Huckster will be at The Oakland Museum just south of Lovingston as part of a fundraiser for the museum. This is something you don’t want to miss. Henry’s car is just one of many that will be there, and he’s gone to a lot of effort to get it there. “DMV has finally scheduled someone from Richmond to come to his home Wednesday to chisel a VIN on his hand made truck, so that he can drive it to Oakland.” said Andy Wright with Oakland who helped coordinate the event.

Oakland- Nelson County’s Museum of Rural History presents more than 40 antique cars provided by the Lynchburg Antique Car Association, plus music by Conny’s Hot Jam Band with songs of the 30s and 40s, plus barbecue, from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26.
