For much of the weekend the grounds at Devils Backbone Brewing was covered in bikers. This was the second year in a row that biking events have been held at the brewery and on Horseshoe Mountain Trails over Brents Gap.

The Stampede Sunday morning capped off the weekend. On Saturday the DB Mountain Cross was held. The entire event is also an offshoot of The Nelson County Parks and Recreation Department. Part of the fun during Sunday’s event was a challenge between Steve Crandall of Devils Backbone and Jeff Stone of Wintergreen Winery in their ABC Challenge. (Adult Beverage Challenge) Looks like beer won in this race. Steve came in #45 with a time of 1:39:22 while Jeff finished up #65 with a time of 2:02:47. Not to worry, we think both were happily laughing together at the other real Adult Beverage Challenge after the race!

  1. Very cool Steve! I’m sure you’re used to it, but the geography must be grueling for bikers on those mountain trails.
