Lovingston
Nelson County, Virginia

The Humane Society/SPCA of Nelson County recently received a $2,000 grant from
the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies (VFHS) to support its Feral Cat
Awareness Project.

The Nelson Humane Society’s proposal was chosen from 29 applications to the
VFHS Spay/Neuter Grant Program. The funds will be used for trap/neuter/return
(TNR)of more than 50 feral cats identified throughout Nelson County. The cats,
some in existing colonies and others on a waiting list, will also be vaccinated
for rabies. This award was made based on evidence of community collaboration
effort and ability for greatest impact in the area of need.

For more information about the benefits of TNR and resources available to the
public, as well as other services offered by the Nelson Humane Society/SPCA, go
