Nelson County, Virginia
For the first time this year temps reached 70° or greater this week. A sign that spring is on the way after a record breaking winter for snowfall. Though most of the snow has already melted in the valley portions of Nelson County, in the mountains it’s a different story. Feet and feet of snow pack still remain.

Over the next 3-4 days several chances for a good soaking rain will enter the forecast with the potential of 2-3 inches of rain before it tapers off on Sunday evening. That combined with lots of snow pack in the higher elevations might spell localized flooding if we get an extended period of heavy rainfall. Right not it looks like the heaviest rain will fall Friday afternoon / evening into Saturday. There’s even a chance for a renegade thunderstorm or two Friday evening.

We’ll keep and eye out here and let you know if it’s worth worrying about.
