Nelson County, Virginia
Even as snow fell for most of the afternoon Tuesday, a nice thaw continues across the county. In the mountains anywhere from 1 to 3 inches of new snow fell Tuesday into Wednesday morning. In the valley portions of Nelson mainly grassy areas had some accumulating snow while roads remained just wet. Temps in the mountains hovered in the 20’s while valley temps remained just above freezing for much of Tuesday night.
Reports from Wintergreen last night told of some roads being lightly covered, and up on Afton Mountain fog and a wintry mix made for slow going at times.
Believe it or not, much warmer weather is on the way by the weekend with temps near or slightly above 60° !!
2-3 inches of new snow here near the 3rd tee on the mountain. Very foggy and 23 degrees. Should be great skiing once the fog clears!
At the top of Wintergreen Mountain near the Highlands slopes the ruler-in-the-driveway test is showing 3″ of fluffy and still coming down.
Well, we had more snow on the mountain between 11 AM and 2 PM while we were skiing — about 2 additional inches. Great powder, great skiing, and great scenery. High of 27 degrees. Listening to Channel 29 news you’d never know we had 3-4 inches of new snow up here. Get ready for some great Spring skiing!
