Flood Watch In Effect Through Late Tonight : CANCELLED : 12.25.09

[ 0 ] December 25, 2009 |

Nelson County, Virginia

The Winter Weather Advisory that was in effect for the valley portions of Nelson County has been allowed to expire as temperatures are approaching the mid 30’s.

However, in the mountainous regions of the county, temps continue hovering right around the freezing mark as of 2PM. Our NCL Wintergreen Nature Foundation Station showed a temp of 32.2° at 2:15PM. A Winter Weather Advisory is still in effect for that area until 3PM. Temps will continue rising this afternoon and evening, so additional icing should not be a factor into the overnight hours, flooding may be.

A Flood Watch goes into effect at 3PM for the area due to continual rain that will be falling over the next several hours. The melting of the snow pack already in place may cause some instances of flooding in some areas.

Much better weather is on the way for Saturday!

More updates later this evening in Tommy’s Audio Weather.

Merry Christmas!
