A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM EST THIS EVENING
THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING.

PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS THE
POTOMAC HIGHLANDS AND CENTRAL SHENANDOAH VALLEY AS A PERIOD OF
SNOW…MOVING NORTH TO THE PENNSYLVANIA BORDER EARLY TUESDAY
EVENING. PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO MIX WITH SLEET AND TO
BECOME HEAVIER THIS EVENING BEFORE CHANGING TO RAIN BY MID- MORNING
WEDNESDAY.

TEMPERATURES AT THE SURFACE WILL STAY BELOW FREEZING…SO RAIN
THAT FALLS WILL FREEZE ON IMPACT. FREEZING RAIN IS EXPECTED TO
CONTINUE THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT BEFORE WARMER AIR ARRIVES
WEDNESDAY MORNING.

ICE ACCUMULATION UP TO ONE-QUARTER INCH IS POSSIBLE. THE HIGHEST
ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS…
SHENANDOAH VALLEY…AND THE POTOMAC AND ALLEGHENY HIGHLANDS.

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THAT THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR
SIGNIFICANT SNOW…SLEET…OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT
TRAVEL. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS AND REMAIN ALERT
FOR SUBSEQUENT WARNINGS FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.
