Nelson County, Virginia.

First out of the gate. The photo associated with this story is from October 2005, a file shot. But, temperatures are on their way down for the remainder of the week with plentiful rainfall in the forecast. The dynamics may come together by the weekend for the chance of a light dusting of snow in the higher elevations about 2000 feet. This would not be any kind of a major winter weather maker, but might give us an early abbreviated glimpse of winter. To our west and the northeast, chances are better due to a developing Nor’easter that may affect New England and portions of the Appalachians. Still way early to know, and we may end up with nothing but rain. But the chance is there.

Regardless, it will be much colder in the coming days with rain developing by this afternoon, continuing into the weekend.

  1. Wow! ASAP tell us if FROST is likely! Have not yet taken in the outdoor plants!
(Thanks, NCL, for acknowledging the passing of time….)

  2. You’re welcome Chuck! Not much of a chance for frost tonight ( I am updating cast now) but some possible freezing temps especially in the mountains by the weekend. -T-

  3. Yep, we’ve got about 1/2 inch of snow on the mountain with wind and fog as of 7 AM, Sun, 18 Oct. Temps in upper 20’s. I think I’ll cancel my tee time.
