16th Annual Sara Ott Golf Classic 2009 : 9.26.09

16 years ago this weekend, Frank & Sara Ott kicked off the first annual Wintergreen Nature Foundation Golf Tourney. Today it’s been renamed in honor of Sara Ott who passed away back in March of 2008. Together the Ott’s and their children have coordinated the tournament every year. Last year was the first time since its beginning that the tourney was held without Sara as a part of it.

Money raised from the classic and the silent auction that follows goes directly to The Wintergreen Nature Foundation.

Again this year rain was around, but the classic was still a huge success. Most veteran players to the tournament expect, joke and take the rain in stride.

Many nice items were donated for the silent auction.

A pro from Wintergreen Resort measures the distance from the pin during the million dollar hole in one.
