Nelson Sheriff David Brooks has confirmed that Opal Page’s stolen 1998 Malibu has been located by authorities in neighboring Augusta County in the city of Waynesboro. Lawmen are enroute to the car’s location to process it for evidence.

Sheriff David Brooks tells NCL this afternoon that an aerial search flown in the Nelson County area near the murder scene found nothing. Police are looking for the 1998 green Chevy Malibu owned by Opal Page that was stolen from the scene.

As the manhunt continues for the killer of retired Rockfish River Elementary School teacher’s aide Opal Page, school administrators who worked alongside the 73-year-old Afton woman are keeping her family in their prayers.

RRES Principal Nita Hughes tells us she had last seen Mrs. Page a few weeks ago during kindergarten registration. Although Page had retired from the school system, she continued to volunteer.

As police continue to investigate the homicide – an aerial search may soon begin depending on the weather – officers are on the look out for Page’s car, a 1998 dark green Chevy malibu bearing Virginia license plate number YZR-1900. Her body was discovered Wednesday at her home on 7275 Rockfish Valley Highway in Afton. Anyone with information can call thje Nelson County Sheriff’s Dept. at 434-263-7050.

  1. I had the pleasure of volunteering at Rockfish River Elementary School with Mrs. Page. She was a kind and gentle person. It brought tears to my eyes when I learned of this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are also with the Rockfish River Elementary School community. They have suffered a great loss.
