Martins Store Substation BPL Update

April 3, 2009

This week we finished the Woodsmill 1 headend. This means that all the backbone units are installed for every circuit except what we call the Nellysford circuit which runs South down Rockfish Valley Highway. There is about 2 weeks worth of work left to finish all the backbone and finish hanging CAUs. We continue to bring sections of the network (and therefore customers) online. Twenty four new customers were brought online this week. The Afton 1 headend (the first section of the circuit north of the substation) experienced a problem early today. We were able to resolve the problem by mid-afternoon and the Afton 1 circuit is now online again. We will maintain a troubleshooting line crew (the guys in the bucket truck) on site for as long as necessary to see that every customer’s service is working and will continue to have field personnel available for in home issues.

We have also provided a document explaining how IBEC’s BPL system works and explains some of the terminology we have been using. Download and view by clicking here.

Thanks again for your patience,
IBEC Customer Service
