Nelson County, Virginia
As we first discussed yesterday, a, still, developing winter storm may impact Nelson and Central Virginia over the weekend into early next next week. As of Saturday night, The National Weather Service (NWS) continues a Winter Storm Watch that takes effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. In the bulletin posted below, the NWS mentions that some areas could see several inches of snow depending on the track. To our west in portions of Western Tennessee and the mid-south near Memphis, snow amounts between 5 to 18, yes 18, inches were already reported late Saturday night.

I have personally been watching this system for a couple of days, and it really gained my attention Friday, but I am still not convinced it will have a 5 inch impact here. Regardless, the elements are combining for this to be a significant winter event if everything lines up and it stays on the projected path. As I always caution with winter events, they can change on a dime, but it does look interesting over the next 36 hours. Continue to check here for updates and I’ll be closely watching this as well, posting updates as conditions and new forecasts come out this weekend.
