As we talked about in Tommy’s Weather for Monday, light snow began in the late afternoon hours up on the mountains. Hat tip to Kim Chappell over at www.experiencenelsoncounty.com from dropping us the photo above about the time it was starting.

Look for the snow to continue into the nighttime hours with an accumulation of 1-3 inches in the mountains by the time it stops on Tuesday. Along and west of the BRP there is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 6 AM Tuesday

Down in the valley around an inch of snow is expected by Tuesday morning.

More details over in Tommy Weather, and updated info out later this evening.

  1. At 7:15 pm, just measured 3″ on the deck here on “Wintergreen Mountain.” When I checked at 6:45 pm it was just under 2.5″ — so it’s picking up.

    Fluffy & scenic

  2. Update at 8:57 pm EST – To borrow a term from the NFL, “depending upon the spot” the top of Wintergreen has 3″ to 3.5″.
