Nellysford – Nelson County, Virginia
As we have reporting now for almost two years, the fate of the old Truslow’s Restaurant in Nellysford has finally been decided and will open as Vitos Restaurant this weekend Saturday January 3rd at 11AM.

The building has been occupied by several other restaurants along the way, including The Rockfish River Grill, and most recently prior to Vitos, Grill 151. Until now no major renovations had been done to the decades old building in Nellysford, just across the road from The Valley Green Shopping Center.

Vitos Nellysford Vito’s in Nellysford will feature much the same menu as the restaurant in Lovingston, but add more gourmet pizza toppings, offer Sicilian crust style pizza, and have at least 10 different kinds of beer on tap. “People are exploring different kinds of beer,” explains Sal, adding that he will try to serve locally brewed beer as well as other commercially available labels.

Sal himself comes from a family of restauranteurs. His four siblings all own establishments, in areas ranging as wide as New Hampshire, and as far as their native Italy.

  1. Lin and I went for a late lunch on Opening Day, Saturday, Jan. 3 – We had great lasagna and a pepperoni roll. Lovely decor, good service, good food. What a treat to have another nice sit-down place to meet and eat.

  2. Evelynn and I went to dinner at Vito’s on the opening night. What a great crowd. We shared a table with a couple we met in line. We thought it would cut down on the wait and also meet new people. What fun. The staff was great and the food was just as we expected, good quality at reasonable prices. Sal really cares about the quality of his meals.

  3. Yay!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited, I’ve been to Vito’s in Lovingston twice and LOVED it. Sounds like a date night, somebody tell my husband!

  4. FYI-Regarding the request for a menu to be posted…The menu at the Nellysford Vito’s is exactly the same as Lovingston only there are a few more specialty pizzas to enjoy!

  5. Last night we sent out for a pizza and what a pleasure not having to drive to Lovingston. Pizza was just like New Jerseys. We tried Sals favorite.

  6. We are regulars at Vito’s in Lovingston, but are so glad to have Sal’s great food closer to home! And the place looks great!
