Cold air will settle into the area over the weekend, and after variably cloudy, becoming partly sunny skies, on Saturday, skies will totally clear Saturday night. With calm winds temperatures will plummet to near 30 degrees in the mountains at places like Wintergreen by Sunday morning. Some patchy frost is also possible in the mountains and in some isolated low lying sections of the valley.

A freeze watch is in effect for areas along and just west of the BRP. Though, as of Friday evening, Wintergreen is not {is now} technically included in this official watch, it is close enough to be affected by the freezing temps over the weekend. Here’s the watch covering Nelson issued Saturday morning.

Temperatures will moderate by Monday for the first part of the week.
