Wintergreen Performing Arts Wine Tasting
Wintergreen, Virginia

Today’s weather and is brought to you exclusively by:
am fog 4.16.08-A

I was chatting with Ken Harris of a.m. Fog on the phone recently and he told me about one of the neatest things that’s just happened over at their place on the Albermarle / Nelson line along Route 151. Yea, we all know them for their great nursery and greenhouse products, but now they are also carrying one of Nelson’s favorite and award winning wines from Delfosse Vineyard & Winery at Faber, Virginia over near Hickory Creek.

And later this month they begin “Thirsty Third Thursdays” wine tasting, at a.m. Fog, that starts Thursday July 31st 4-8 PM. The event continues on into the fall.

HC-Bottle-1
And yea, we told you first about Homestead Creamery milk a few weeks ago. That’s available in the farm market at a.m. Fog. This is the real thing in those familiar glass bottles. It gets delivered fresh every Wednesday!

And to celebrate a.m. Fog’s 5 years in business, all trees & shrubs are 50% off. Folks this won’t happen again until their 10 year anniversary, so get ’em while you can.

Yvonne says, new shipments of corn arrive every Tuesday and Friday plus they’re picking loads of green beans, cukes, zukes, & squash. Tomatoes & peppers are just starting to come in along with ORGANICALLY grown and conventional peaches too. Cantaloupes are on sale this week 1.79 each or 2 for 5.00…now that’s a deal!

You can always visit them on the web at www.amfog.net or call ’em at 540-456-7100

Though hot, the weather over the past several days has been perfect for outdoor activities. Our Paul Purpura grabbed a shot or two of these folks enjoying wine tasting as part of Wintergreen Performing Arts’ Summer Music Festival. This past weekend they were celebrating Italy and, of course, Italian wines! This coming weekend wraps up the Summer Music Festival celebrating the Americas, but they have lots more events planned throughout the rest of the summer right on into the Fall.

Yesterday would have been a great day to be sipping a cold wine under the shade tree. Humidity levels began creeping back up as high pressure scoots to our east allowing southerly breezes to move the moisture back in. An advancing cold front to our NW will work toward Central Virginia on Wednesday bringing chances for thunderstorms to the area once again. Some of the storms Wednesday afternoon could have locally heavy downpours and be fairly strong in a few areas. It will be hot with temps in the low & mid 90’s with a heat index of near 100° in a few valley locations.

Thunderstorms hang around through part of Thursday. The weekend looks dry right now, but temps remain around the lower 90’s through the period.
