Grape Harvest At Delfosse
Faber, Virginia

Grape Harvest @ Delfosse
Above, the grapes are ripe for the picking at Delfosse Vineyard & Winery.

Monday started off as a beautiful day across Central Virginia. It was such a nice morning they were out picking the grapes at Delfosse Vineyard & Winery in Faber. In the picture above the Sauvignon Blanc is being harvested. Later today after being refrigerated all night the grapes will be pressed. Then it’s on for the rest of processing that will eventually end up as wine down the road! Cheers!

After some sunshine early in the day Monday we ended up with showers across much of the northern end of Nelson. We’ll have more rain today, especially early as a front moves through. Sunny skies returning midweek. A stronger but mainly dry front moves through by week’s end bringing in some much cooler air. By late in the weekend we will see afternoon highs in the low 70’s and overnight lows in the upper 40’s by next Monday morning.

Still watching a couple of other areas of interest below. There are two disturbances I’m watching for possible tropical storm development. Again too soon to know what they will do, but we’re keeping an eye on them and will you update accordingly throughout the week. The old storm #92 dissipated during the last 24 hours.
You can see #90 might head out of the gulf in our general direction by week’s end, the other toward the east coast perhaps. Just have to keep an eye on them.

The two areas of a low pressure (Invest 90 & 91) disturbances. 90 in the gulf and 91 out in the Atlantic.

The National Forecast Map shows the cold front working south across Virginia today. Mostly cloudy skies with showers will persist for the first part of the day. Some clearing may occur before near dark. Any remaining showers will end in the early evening hours. The front stalls to our south, eventually returning as a warm front before a much stronger cold front arrives by the weekend.
