Monday was another nice day across Nelson & Central Virginia. A perfect day for the start of the UK Soccer Camp being held this week at the Rockfish Ruritan Park just off Route 151 in Afton, technically Greenfield.

Monday was a tad bit warmer than the weekend and the humidity was a a little higher yesterday as well. Isolated thunderstorms were across the area but mainly south of Nelson. The winds will kick more southerly today with an increased chance of afternoon thunderstorms today throughout the rest of the week.

The current surface map shows an upper level low in our area for the next several days creating the chance for afternoon thunderstorms. It will feel more muggy today with southerly winds.

The National Forecast Map, shows a trough extending through the area as well which will be the focal point for thunderstorms later today. Not everyone will see the storms but chances are better today than Monday and increase as we work toward Wed & Thursday.

*On the mountains above 2000 feet along the BRP, Wintergreen, Three Ridges, Devil’s Knob, and Love, Partly sunny with afternoon thunderstorms.
Highs top out around 73 degrees.
Winds SW 5-10 MPH

*Tuesday night Becoming mostly cloudy with scatttered thunderstorms ending by midnight, lingering showers after midnight. Mild.
*Lows valley around 60 degrees.
*On the mountains overnight low of 58.
*Winds SW 3-5 MPH

*Wednesday Mostly cloudy with scattered thunderstorms across 40% of the area.
*High 84 degrees.
*On the mountains Mostly cloudy scattered afternoon thunderstorms.
Highs top out around 71 degrees.
Winds SSW 5-10 MPH

Remainder of the week. Chances for afternoon thunderstorms continue in the 30-40% range right into the weekend. No particular day will be a complete washout, but each afternoon brings chances for showers. Chances are better Wed through Friday. The disturbed weather clears the area by Sunday.
