WOW! Talk about lots happening over this Memorial Day weekend. If you’ve been on the roads anywhere or out in the Rockfish Valley, you know how busy it’s been around Nelson this weekend. So…let’s get right to it!

Our NCL photographer Paul Purpura was a busy one on Saturday taking pictures everywhere. Below in these shots he was at Lake Monacan in Stoney Creek where it initially appears they broke the world record for the most inner tubes in a line on the water. Paul tells us he thinks the previous record was arond 130 – they managed to put together about 300 on Saturday at Lake Monacan.
Mmmmm, is that Catalina San Giorgio pointing in the shot immediately below?

Before Paul headed to Monacan to grab the shots above, he was the official Nelson County Life photographer for this year’s Wintergreen Nature Foundation Spring Slam. The tourney, which continues Sunday, benefits TWNF and The Wintergreen Rescue Squad. Yep, Yvette is playing this year again with her doubles partner Debbie Flight from Richmond. They lost one and won one yesterday. We’ll see how it goes today!

Below we take a minute out for a shot in front of our new Nelson County LIfe Magazine banner (Thanks Kimberly over at Cottle Multimedia in Lovingston!) NCL is a sponsor of the tournament for the second year in a row. Our great friend Paul Luke from DC / Maryland area came down to spend the holiday weekend and check out the tourney. Trivia, Paul was Yvette’s photographer when she was a reporter in television news years ago at the NBC station in Memphis.

In Nellysford, the annual arts & crafts show was a big hit with lots of folks stopping by Saturday.

After stopping by the arts & crafts gig, we stopped by Wintergreen Winery to see Beth & Steve of Junior Moment playing.

Folks were having a great time just hanging out, having some wine, and listening to the tunes.

The weather was just perfect too for Morris Foster and Bruce Flight to play a little redneck golf. Just ask Morris, he can explain how it’s played!

Lots more events are taking place all weekend long through Monday, get out and enjoy. We’ll have more up throughout the holiday weekend. Check back often!
