…FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH TONIGHT…

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Portions of central Virginia, northern Virginia, and northwest
Virginia, including the following areas, in central Virginia,
Albemarle, Central Virginia Blue Ridge, Greene, Nelson, and
Orange. In northern Virginia, Culpeper. In northwest Virginia,
Madison, Northern Virginia Blue Ridge, and Rappahannock.

* Through tonight

* Multiple rounds of torrential rainfall will be possible for
targeted areas through tonight. Given saturated soil from
recent rainfall, repetitive heavy rain may result in flash
flooding.

* Urban areas, locations along small streams and creeks, and poor
drainage areas are most vulnerable to flash flooding. The Flash
Flood Watch will likely need to be extended through Friday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should
Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

…FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING…

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Portions of North Carolina, Virginia, and southeast West
Virginia, including the following areas, in North Carolina,
Alleghany NC, Ashe, Caswell, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry,
Watauga, Wilkes, and Yadkin. In Virginia, Alleghany VA,
Amherst, Appomattox, Bath, Bedford, Bland, Botetourt,
Buckingham, Campbell, Carroll, Charlotte, Craig, Floyd,
Franklin, Giles, Grayson, Halifax, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick,
Pittsylvania, Pulaski, Roanoke, Rockbridge, Smyth, Tazewell,
and Wythe. In southeast West Virginia, Eastern Greenbrier,
Mercer, Monroe, Summers, and Western Greenbrier.

* Through Friday evening.

* Repetitive rounds of heavy rain from thunderstorms on
increasingly saturated soils will make conditions favorable for
flash flooding through late Friday.

* Expect on average an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain through
Friday evening. Higher amounts are possible in short periods of
time which could cause flash flooding. Streams, creeks, and
small rivers, as well as urban areas could have flooding issues.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
Remember…TURN AROUND…DON’T DROWN!

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
