Tuesday night was Wintergreen Performing Arts Opening Night performance.

Following that, “Selections from Wood Works” was performed by Ross Monroe Winter, Violin: Milene Moreira, Violin; Matt Pegis, Viola; and Wesley Baldwin, Cello. Next was “Street Song for Brass Quintet” by Milchael Tilson Thomas with David Vonderheide, Trumpet; Susan Messersmith, Trumpet; Abagail Pack, Horn; Jay Crone, Trombone; and Josh Wirt, Tuba. After Intermission, “Selections and Stories” were performed by the Richard Wilson Trio. This was an ad lib performance of well known American songs starting from just before the beginning of the 1900’s and continued through the 1950’s. Staring off with “When the Saints Go Marching In”, to “Sweet Georgia Brown” to “Over the Rainbow”, “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy Of Company B” and finally to Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Goodness Gracious Great Balls of Fire”. People were clapping their hands in tune and almost started dancing. Additional American works were also performed.

It was a great opening night that was well attended. Check out schedule of upcoming events at WPA’s website: www.wintergreenperformingarts.org.
